I had to look this up but if you get left behind on your cruise, the cruise line will typically make sure you are handed your documents (passport, ect), and if you can't pay for a plane ticket to the next port you have to contact your consulate/embassy and have your government pay for it. If you are a US citizen the US Consulate office will pay for a ticket home if you can't pay for one or don't have your money on you. If you are from another country that will depend on what country and if your country has a consulate office in that country.

My fear of being late and left behind is so great that I would not get off the ship.

The closest I’ve ever been was getting back about 30 mins prior to required arrival time. It wasn’t just me though, 25 of us were on a RC sponsored excursion. I was still nervous though.

I feel sorry for them as much as if they got a damn good reason for bein late ,like a bus broke down or something else which is out of there control but if it's like these a-holes at the airport where there late for boarding & your spose to be there 3 hrs before & they still late then sod um it's their fault ,in this case it should have been nameD ( NO SYMPATHY OF THE SEAS 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've watched a lot of these and without trying to sound racist, the majority of those that run and miss seem to be black. Why is that?

Although not a cruise pier run, I had a long panicky run through the airport in Taiwan to catch the same airline's connecting flight to Hong Kong that was scheduled to depart only minutes after we landed. I had just arrived on a flight from Los Angeles to Taipei, and then the ground staff in the terminal told us to run as fast as we could to this other very distant gate to catch our connecting flight to Hong Kong. It was dumb of the airline to cut it so close and then have the planes sitting at gates that were at opposite ends of the airport. I made it on time but running through the airport due to no fault of my own was not fun.

Make sure you go by the ships time to get back on board

They weren't really passengers. They waited around the corner and watched until the gangway was removed then ran for the ship pretending they just missed it.

Well, they certainly learnt a lesson.

For that ship to stop, pull back in and tie up would cost a second docking fee. Thousands of dollars, would late people pay that? Don't think so!

The supremely funny moment was when they waved to try to stop the ship, as if they were chasing a bus. Time wasn't the only thing they were unaware of.

When you are on a cruise, you have just ONE job to do...get back on time.😁😁

Why can't cruises depart early in the morning? Early in the morning is the best time to depart because no passenger would want to spend the night in the city, all passengers would be back to the ship by late night.

That's what happens when you think you are better than anyone else 😂😂

Perhaps this couple should set aside their feelings of entitlement and include a margin of error into their sightseeing schedule. Apart from that I have no sympathy for people who do not respect the cruise line's time schedule. The ship waited approximately FIFTY MINUTES for them to show, a delay which probably cost the cruise line thousands and thousands of dollars. Cruise lines bend over backwards to accommodate their passengers but enough is enough! I obviously don't know the resolution of this matter but had it been me, I would have tried to get on board the boat sent out to pick up the pilot and thus rejoined the cruise ship.
